As a Honolulu family photographer, I’ve spent years capturing the chaos and joy of island life—from sandy toes at Ko’Olina to the vibrant energy of downtown streets. Sure, beaches get all the hype, but let’s talk about urban adventures.
Recently, a family of three asked me to document their final weeks in the Honolulu neighborhood they’d called home before moving abroad. No palm trees, no waves—just cityscapes, giggles, and their 13-month-old mastering the art of almost walking. (Spoiler: Dad’s face when she took those wobbly steps? Priceless.)

What made this session even more special was their adorable little girl, just 13 months old, on the verge of taking her first independent steps. There's something magical about capturing those early milestones, the proud look in her eyes as she tentatively tested her newfound balance (and how proud dad was to be right beside her!).
As we strolled through the streets of Honolulu, we laughed, we played, and we took advantage of the beautiful scenery in this gorgeous city. Every corner offered a new opportunity to capture the love and connection shared by this sweet family.
Why I’ll Trade Sand for Sidewalks (and This Family’s Story)
Now, you might be wondering why we didn't head straight to the beach for this session. Well, while I normally stay close to Ko’Olina, if another part of the island speaks to you, let’s talk about it. My lens travels for a small adventure fee. 😉 After all, Hawaii has so much more to offer than just sun, sand, and surf.
But beyond the stunning scenery and picturesque backdrops, what truly sets this session apart is, quite simply this adorable family. I met mama when she first trusted me to capture newborn pictures for her sweet baby girl and, from then on, they've trusted me to document many more precious moments - to family and also best-friends sessions, to even this little cutie’s year cake smash. And for that, I am incredibly grateful.
